Explore and discover Japanese culture
Kyoto has its own very particular culture, one of refinement and mystery. Kyoto is renowned for its abundance of delicious Japanese foods and cuisine. The special circumstances of Kyoto as a city away from the sea, as well as home to many Buddhist temples, has resulted in the development of a variety of vegetables peculiar to the Kyoto area and a style of singularly unique cuisine to accompany them. Kyoto is known for being shrouded in mystery and secrecy – the Gion entertainment district is renowned for offering refined entertainment for the few invited.
Tsudaro offers the delights of traditional Kyoto culture in a more inclusive fashion, granting access to all to this traditional and often hidden culture. We offer both traditional and contemporary Culture Events such as poetry reading with traditional Shamisen, Japanese cuisine classes, pencil sketching with a delicate, beautiful Maiko as model or talks on various traditional Kyoto topics – all in the unique Tsudaro atmosphere. Please check our current culture events schedule, and remember to book in advance to secure your spot!
